Whether you're looking to up the safety at your home or you are kitting out a new holiday house with the basics for simple medical care, if you have little knowledge of putting together first aid boxes, you will doubtless be feeling a little confused.
The process of putting together an excellent health and safety kit should not be too difficult, as long you have a good handle on what sort of thing should go in as a general rule. You will also want to make a note of any specific risks that your location poses – a high pollen count, for example, or the presence of biting insects – and to take into account medical conditions suffered by people in your family.
To begin with, your box should include basic pain killing and restorative medication. You should include such things as headache tablets, for example, and anti-nausea pills. If you will be accompanied by young children, be sure to include these items in syrup form.
In addition, your basic first aid box should also be well stocked with topical dressings to treat both cuts and bruises, and to deal with things like minor burns and insect bites. This means you should have both plasters and bandages at the ready, and should pack ointments and creams to remedy a variety of problems.
As well as these basics, be sure to include medicine to treat any specific medical conditions that you have reason to believe might flare up in your location, and take into account the age of your family members and tailor the contents accordingly.
